This is the first or oldest ever mention of the concept of a holiday to celebrate Thanksgiving. It was taken from a Plymouth, Massachusetts, newspaper called "Publick Occurrences" issued on 9/25/1690. Gratitude for what others have given us is one of the best things we can do . . . for ourselves.
